Do you think the plan God has for your life is meant to only be accomplished by you?
In Nehemiah 2 we learn more about his character. He had a duty even though his heart was heavy with sadness. He continued to serve the king. In a moment the king recognized that Nehemiah was heavy hearted. He asked him directly what he needed. In verse 4, we again see Nehemiah lean on prayer and then lay out his requests to rebuild the city.
Nehemiah 2: 4-5 The king said to me, "What is it you want?"
Then I prayed to the God of heaven, and I answered the king, "If it pleases the king and if your servant has found favor in his sight, let him send me to the city in Judah where my fathers are buried so that I can rebuild it."
We can evaluate the scriptures and see that first Nehemiah was a man of character and continued with his duties even though he was in a struggle. We see that he found strength in God. We see that God had prepared the way in the king's heart for Nehemiah's request.
God put a calling in Nehemiah to rebuild the city but he was never intended to do it alone. He needed help to keep himself safe and have the resources to rebuild. God had a plan bigger than Nehemiah, he had created a relationship between them in order to see His plan accomplished.
Sometimes we can see the calling in our lives, as our own. We protect it, nurture it and get a little too much pride in it. We aren't meant to do it alone. Everyday God puts someone in your life to pour Him into you or for you to pour God into. Are you open to the relationships? God's plan for your calling is bigger than what you see. It is more important for His glory then for you to do this alone.
