Carry each other"s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. Galatians 6:2

Women of Worship is a group of men and women with a desire to express love for our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We hunger for God's word, support one another in prayer and desire a closer relationship with Him.

Heather and I feel that God has put a genuine desire in our hearts to share His word with people. This blog is our attempt to get the Word of God to our friends in a practical and loving way. We are hoping to create a community of people that strengthen one another for the Kingdom of God. No matter where you are in your walk you are welcome here. Please feel free to share prayer requests, opinions, questions or anything that you feel led to say.

X,Day 1

anXious, Day 1

anXious

Well, this is not the easiest letter to come up with an entire devotional for a week. I am going to be creative.

Let's talk about anXious!

I think I have quite a bit of practice with this word. No matter how many times I hear that we are to be anxious in nothing, I still get anxious often. It is so closely related to our thoughts and feelings that it seems to be the perfect word for our current series.

I looked it up on Dictionary.com and this is what it showed.

Anxious
–adjective
1.
full of mental distress or uneasiness because of fear of danger or misfortune; greatly worried; solicitous

2. earnestly desirous; eager (usually fol. by an infinitive or for ): anxious to please; anxious for our happiness.
3. attended with or showing solicitude or uneasiness: anxious forebodings.
Origin: 1615–25; < L anxius worried, distressed, deriv. of angere to strangle, pain, distress; cf. anguish, -ous

Language Translation for : anxious
Spanish: ansioso, preocupado,
German: besorgt,
Japanese: 心配して

What I find most interesting is that they add the language translation. So now we know how to be anxious in several other languages. Ha ha. Anyway here is what the Bible says about the word.

Proverbs 12:25

An anxious heart weighs a man down, but a kind word cheers him up.

Psalm 139:23

Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts.

Philippians 4:6

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.

Okay, so give these verses some thought and we'll dissect them more tomorrow.

Please pray for Jan J. this week.
