Carry each other"s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. Galatians 6:2

Women of Worship is a group of men and women with a desire to express love for our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We hunger for God's word, support one another in prayer and desire a closer relationship with Him.

Heather and I feel that God has put a genuine desire in our hearts to share His word with people. This blog is our attempt to get the Word of God to our friends in a practical and loving way. We are hoping to create a community of people that strengthen one another for the Kingdom of God. No matter where you are in your walk you are welcome here. Please feel free to share prayer requests, opinions, questions or anything that you feel led to say.

Laughing

Laughing
By Heather Collver

Have you ever laughed at the wrong time? Has anyone ever told you something that seemed so ridiculous that you just had to laugh? Has fear ever made you try to cover up one of your actions? In the scriptures, we learn that Isaac brought laughter to his parents before he was even conceived.

The definition of Issac is laughs.

Isaac was the only son of Abraham by his wife Sarah. He was the father of Jacob and Esau. God promised to make Abraham's descendants a great nation that would become God's Chosen People. The promised son, Isaac, was born when Abraham was 100 years old and Sarah was 90. It was a long awaited birth. Both Abraham and Sarah laughed when they heard they would have a son in their old age.

Genesis 17:17-19

17 Abraham fell facedown; he laughed and said to himself, "Will a son be born to a man a hundred years old? Will Sarah bear a child at the age of ninety?" 18 And Abraham said to God, "If only Ishmael might live under your blessing!"

19 Then God said, "Yes, but your wife Sarah will bear you a son, and you will call him Isaac. [a] I will establish my covenant with him as an everlasting covenant for his descendants after him.

Genesis 18:9-15
9 "Where is your wife Sarah?" they asked him.
"There, in the tent," he said.

10 Then the LORD [a] said, "I will surely return to you about this time next year, and Sarah your wife will have a son."
Now Sarah was listening at the entrance to the tent, which was behind him. 11 Abraham and Sarah were already old and well advanced in years, and Sarah was past the age of childbearing. 12 So Sarah laughed to herself as she thought, "After I am worn out and my master [b] is old, will I now have this pleasure?"

13 Then the LORD said to Abraham, "Why did Sarah laugh and say, 'Will I really have a child, now that I am old?' 14 Is anything too hard for the LORD ? I will return to you at the appointed time next year and Sarah will have a son."

15 Sarah was afraid, so she lied and said, "I did not laugh."
But he said, "Yes, you did laugh."

What things are you waiting on the Lord for? How hard was it for Sarah to have to wait for the blessing of a son? Would it be hard for you to wait that long? Would you begin to doubt that the Lord would come through with his promise? What areas of your life are you trying to control? What areas in your life have you planned that God may have a different plan?

Dear Lord, I pray today that we would be willing to wait on your promises. Lord, I pray that we would be in such a relationship with you that we seek your will in all our plans and when the time comes, we willingly adjust our plans to your will in our lives. Lord, I know that we can't see the big picture and that many times it is hard to wait, I pray that we will be patient and know that you are God and that you are awesome. I pray that we will be able to laugh in these times and that we will be willing to accept your plan in our lives.

Please pray for Shawna L. this week, thank you.
