What stirred David up so much about Goliath that he had to defeat him?
1 Samuel 17:22-23 David left his things with the keeper of supplies, ran to the battle lines and greeted his brothers. As he was talking with them, Goliath, the Philistine champion from Gath, stepped out from his lines and shouted his usual defiance, and David heard it.
What does it take in your life to be stirred?
Recently my pastor used the analogy of David's rocks to be used as words/weapons we use to defend our faith, our God. Often times as Christians we know when to lay down our opinions and our opposition in order to love the unlovely or to serve those that need to be served. Do we know when to stand? Are you willing to throw the rocks when someone is insulting your God? Do you have the courage to go out, unarmed, and stand against those that insult and criticize your faith, your beliefs, your family?
I don't know how often I cower for the fear of criticism or judgement. I know that it is hard to say "No" or "Yes" or to stand when everyone else is sitting. We serve an amazing God who has given us more love and power than we can imagine. I ask you and me, why is it so hard to defend Him in a fight?
