Proverbs 27:12 (CEV)
Be cautious and hide when you see danger—
don’t be stupid and walk right into trouble.
Proverbs 27:12 (ESV)
The prudent sees danger and hides himself,
but the simple go on and suffer for it.
Proverbs 27:12 (MSG)
A prudent person sees trouble coming and ducks;
a simpleton walks in blindly and is clobbered.
It seems like there is very little room for discernment in this verse. Discernment is exactly what it is telling you.
Be prepared.
Know what may happen.
Duck when it is time to duck.
Hide when it is time to hide.
Life is full of the good and the bad, the beautiful and the ugly. How do we know the difference? Are you assuming you already know it all? You probably don't. Be prudent, be smart and cautious.
What are we looking for? What are we trying to avoid? If you want the answers it is time to pick up the Word of God.
