Wisdom
Proverbs 10:8
The wise in heart accept commands,
but a chattering fool comes to ruin.
Wisdom is one of the most sought after gifts in the Bible. It takes obedience to seek something faithfully. Wisdom is obtained through obedience and careful instruction. Be careful when you are learning about God. Be sure to check everything you learn with the Word of God, so that it lines up with what God has instructed us. It is important to remember that we are to follow his commands, not just talk about them.
James 1:22Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. 23Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like a man who looks at his face in a mirror 24and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. 25But the man who looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues to do this, not forgetting what he has heard, but doing it—he will be blessed in what he does.
26If anyone considers himself religious and yet does not keep a tight rein on his tongue, he deceives himself and his religion is worthless. 27Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.
One of the hardest parts of obedience for me is to keep a tight rein on my tongue. Sure it sounds good to be obedient, but with a mouth like mine, I find it is so hard to stay in his will when I am merely spouting off ideas. I know it blesses God for me to be obedient to him.
Matthew 7:24
Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.
To build on a solid rock means that we will hear and respond, not be a phony. While it is hard to do at times, practicing obedience helps to build a strong foundation to whether any storm that life may have for you.
Proverbs 1:1 These are the wise sayings of Solomon, David's son, Israel's king—Written down so we'll know how to live well and right, to understand what life means and where it's going;A manual for living, for learning what's right and just and fair;To teach the inexperienced the ropes and give our young people a grasp on reality. There's something here also for seasoned men and women, still a thing or two for the experienced to learn—Fresh wisdom to probe and penetrate, the rhymes and reasons of wise men and women.
7 Start with God—the first step in learning is bowing down to God; only fools thumb their noses at such wisdom and learning.
Dear Lord, I pray today that I will accept only the truth in my life. That I will take care of those that cannot take care of themselves and I will do all that I can to keep myself from being polluted by this world. I ask that you be with those who read this. Will you speak to them today. Give them a better understanding of knowledge, what it means to possess wisdom.
Because Solomon was a leader, I am going to ask that you pray for your local leaders today. Stick with the city and county representatives and those who make decisions that directly affect you in leader or governing positions. We'll pray for state and country representatives later, but for now, let's stick to those who are directly in our communities.
Thank you.
Carry each other"s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. Galatians 6:2
Women of Worship is a group of men and women with a desire to express love for our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We hunger for God's word, support one another in prayer and desire a closer relationship with Him.
Heather and I feel that God has put a genuine desire in our hearts to share His word with people. This blog is our attempt to get the Word of God to our friends in a practical and loving way. We are hoping to create a community of people that strengthen one another for the Kingdom of God. No matter where you are in your walk you are welcome here. Please feel free to share prayer requests, opinions, questions or anything that you feel led to say.
