Contentment Day 3
What would Jesus say about that?
Do you have a list of needs? What about Wants? Is it hard to sift through these lists to find the true necessities? Even if you cut back all but the bare necessities, Jesus wants us to stop pursuing all of the items on the list.
Luke 12:29, 31
“And do not seek what you should eat or what you should drink, nor have an anxious mind. But seek the kingdom of God, and all these things[a] shall be added to you.
Jesus' message is not only challenging, it is a promise. Seek to know God and he'll take care of your needs and sustain you. It's all about priorities. Be deliberate about your relationship with God.
Psalm 145:14-16
The LORD upholds all who fall,
And raises up all who are bowed down.
15 The eyes of all look expectantly to You,
And You give them their food in due season.
16 You open Your hand
And satisfy the desire of every living thing.
Pray often, invite God daily to reveal himself to you, and ask him to direct your day, decisions, words, and thoughts. This is more important than attending church or a Bible study once a week. The relationship is where the promise is kept.
Now, make a list of what God has provided already in your life. Offer thanks for these things. Next, make a list of your worries. This is where anxiety rules, not God. If your worry does not create a positive outcome in the situation, then lay it at God's feet and never go back to it. Don't make excuses. You are putting that concern above God and not trusting him if you give it more thought and try to come up with a solution without asking the Lord to take care of it.
Be diligent with your gifts. Don't just quit your job to spend your days with God. He has provided those gifts so that you have a means to provide for your needs.
Psalm 37:5
Commit your way to the LORD,
Trust also in Him,
And He shall bring it to pass.
The closer you are to God, the you'll see his provision and trust him in all things. Trusting God does not mean feeling guilty for what he's already entrusted to you. It does mean that it should be used for His glory and not your own status.
Habakkuk 3:17-18
Though the fig tree may not blossom,
Nor fruit be on the vines;
Though the labor of the olive may fail,
And the fields yield no food;
Though the flock may be cut off from the fold,
And there be no herd in the stalls—
18 Yet I will rejoice in the LORD,
I will joy in the God of my salvation.
Please pray for Stacey M this week. I am so sorry I did not post that the last 2 days.
