Carry each other"s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. Galatians 6:2

Women of Worship is a group of men and women with a desire to express love for our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We hunger for God's word, support one another in prayer and desire a closer relationship with Him.

Heather and I feel that God has put a genuine desire in our hearts to share His word with people. This blog is our attempt to get the Word of God to our friends in a practical and loving way. We are hoping to create a community of people that strengthen one another for the Kingdom of God. No matter where you are in your walk you are welcome here. Please feel free to share prayer requests, opinions, questions or anything that you feel led to say.

Adventures in Worship

Life most certainly can be called an adventure. I know it becomes one when you choose to believe in the blood of Jesus. Some days it takes a lot to understand the battles we fight between our lives in the Spirit and our lives in flesh. Even though we are new, born again, we continue to battle within ourselves. Hopefully this new study will help us all to take a moment before we react and decide to live a little more in Spirit and a little less in flesh.

And just incase you aren't sure what adventure I am talking about: here is what we are all, as followers of Christ, called to do....

Matthew 28:16-20

The Great Commission

16But the eleven disciples proceeded to Galilee, to the mountain which Jesus had designated.
17When they saw Him, they worshiped Him; but some were doubtful.
18And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.
19"Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit,
20teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age."

Day 2

An adventure is an activity that comprises risky, dangerous and uncertain experiences. (from wikepedia.com) Sounds a little like the definition of life to me.

There are times when we all feel a little like we are going through the motions. Get up, get around, go to work, pick up the kids, make dinner, watch a little tv, yada yada yada...... I am hoping that I can burst your bubble of monotony because you are called to live a much more adventurous life.

Risky, oh yes, your faith is strong enough to move mountains, imagine how risky that could be. Matthew 17:20 And He said to them, "Because of the littleness of your faith; for truly I say to you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move; and nothing will be impossible to you.

Dangerous. Again, I'm pretty sure this is part of the experience considering some of the armor that is required. Ephesians 6:11Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil.

Uncertain experiences. We may not know how we are going to get there but as a believer there is one promise to stand on. No matter the adventure, the process, the growing and going, if you call on the name of Jesus you have eternal life. Colossians3:23Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord rather than for men, 24knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance It is the Lord Christ whom you serve.

Day 3

Take a moment to take a snap shot of your life. Are you living like you will inherit the earth? Don't get me wrong here, I'm not saying that because you believe you are perfect and do all the right things. We are all works in progress, being molded by our perfect creator. Truth be told, life is an amazing gift and even greater is the amazing grace of our God to forgive us when we are truly unworthy. My question to you is this: are you living a life in response to all of the promises God wants to bless you with? If you are, the snapshot of your life will show fruit. If not, it is time to challenge yourself to the adventure of walking in the Spirit.

Galatians 5: 19-25
Now the deeds of the flesh are evident, which are: immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, disputes, dissensions, factions, envying, drunkenness, carousing, and things like these, of which I forewarn you, just as I have forewarned you, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. Now those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit.

Day 4

Galatians 5:1 It was for freedom that Christ set us free; therefore keep standing firm and do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery.

Heavenly Father~ Praise your name for the undeserving gift of grace and mercy. I pray for your blessing on this new study. Guide Heather and I as we learn and teach the beauty of your promises and the greatness of You. It is our desire Lord that our focus stay on you, that even though our faith can be small that it is still faith in an amazing God, strong enough to move mountains. Life is a precious gift, challenge us to live our lives in response to your Love. Remind us of the adventure of sharing your Truth, don't let us live lives that are stale and stagnant. Lord forgive us for being passive in our relationships with you. Be with me Father as I step out in faith, give me the courage and strength to overcome my fears so that lives are changed for Your Kingdom. ~In Jesus Name.

Day 5

Life has a way of slipping away from us. Before we know it we have been married for 10 years, our babies become teenagers, we are less than 10 years from retirement. Sometimes we look back and wonder where all of the time went and what we did with the blessings we are given. May I encourage you to reevaluate, take inventory today before it is one more missed opportunity.

About 5 years ago at a Women of Worship bible study in my living room I took a step in faith. I didn't realize at the time how much it would change my life or more importantly the life of my husband. In a discussion about sacrifice I announced to my friends and God that I could give up everything if God called me to move. God did just that. In less then two months from that moment I was packed in a van and we were moving 2000 miles away from all of our friends and family. When the opportunity came up for Ted to take a job in Iowa I knew in my heart we were suppose to go. There was no hesitation, which suprised Ted. I knew God had prepared me and I was ready to follow.

Besides the unbelievable friendship that we made there, Ted became a Christian. Yes, because of an amazing small group Ted now shares in the inheritance. I don't know if Ted would have found the answers he was looking for anywhere else but with that group of believers.

Sometimes our adventures are baby steps and learning processes. Other times you will be called to truly make change happen. Are you willing to take on the risk and the danger and the uncertain experiences for the Creator of the Heavens and the Earth?
